Netherlands based CargoFlexX Group, specialized in the engineering, delivery, and maintenance of pneumatic bulk storage and transfer systems, has successfully launched its FlexXVac® ECO system for ships and barges. FlexXVac® ECO is a pneumatic storage and transfer system for cementitious products, and is suitable for conversions and newbuilds. The system is fully electric and suitable for installation on all vessel sizes.
FlexXVac® ECO reduces electrical power requirements by up to 35% compared to alternative systems, without compromising discharge performance. A second benefit of the system is that the layout gives the possibility to lower the center of gravity of the ship, which has a positive effect on the ship’s stability. The simple design also provides low periodic maintenance requirements, easily performed by the ship’s crew, and critical spares can be kept to a minimum.
The FlexXVac® ECO system has recently been installed on the MV “C3 Magnar” during a conversion from a general cargo ship to a self-discharging pneumatic cement carrier. The conversion was executed at the Tersan shipyard of Yalova, Turkey on behalf of the shipping company Makar Navis and related to the joint C3 Shipping business platform. This shipowner is known for its willingness to invest in innovative technology, and is a frontrunner in embracing environmentally friendly and economic solutions. Makar Navis is currently installing a similar system in the same yard on their vessel “C3 Rubicon.”
