Self-discharging bulk carriers are equipped with a system that allows the ship to discharge its cargo without the needed for external machinery. Design & engineering of a cargo transfer system is key to success, a flawless discharge operation is critical for the ship and customer performance.
Benefits of self-discharging systems are mainly that the ships are able to discharge at terminals that have a minimum receiving facility and/or that have no discharging equipment. Secondly the weather conditions will have less influence on operation.
